Just as I did not choose my ethnicity, family, and country, so we do not choose our gender identity and sexual orientation. We do choose how to express our sexuality. But our identity is not our choice.
This has been the overarching testimony of the LGBTQ+ community. I am aware that some of my brothers and sisters in the Christian community might find offense with these words. This does not change the fact that this is the experience of the gay community. And any type of discussion, theological or otherwise, between the church and the LGBTQ+ community must take this point as granted.Continue reading
