It has become fashionable lately to speak about forming relationships with people who are different without having an “agenda.”
It is even considered impolite to aim to change people or to win them over to your own beliefs.
I think that it is impossible not to have an agenda. You cannot form a relationship with someone without having a goal. The goal might be simply to form the relationship. But that, my friend, is an agenda – a goal.
I have been writing this humble blog with its humble following for quite some time now. I tend to lean towards grace in my discussion of different Christian stands on different issues (or at least try to). I believe we should be graceful.
I also strongly believe that one should be always be respectful with those who are different than oneself (always – even when the other is not).
However, I got to thinking the other day that perhaps my focus on grace would make people think that I have no agenda.
I am sorry, but I do.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
I believe that he is the way to life.
I believe that Jesus is the answer to humanity’s problems.
I believe that Jesus was a real person who came to this earth, died on a cross, and rose again after three days to defy sin and death.
Here is my promise to all my friends, and everyone I meet. Every time I speak with you I promise to be respectful. I promise to listen to your point of view on things. I promise that our disagreements will not affect our relationship. We can still be friends.
However, I also confess that as I speak with you, as we share views, I am constantly thinking and praying, “Lord, please make this person decide to follow Jesus.”
Every Christian, that is, every person who is a follower of Christ probably has the same agenda.
There it is folks. I just gave up our hidden secret for all our Muslim, atheist, or people who follow anyone or anything (even Christians) other than Jesus. We want you to become followers of Christ.
We will never force you. We will never (hopefully) disrespect your beliefs. But oh how we want you to also become a follower of Jesus.
We cannot not have this agenda. At the heart of our faith is the proclamation that Jesus died to save the entire human race, and the entire world for that. At the heart of our faith, we confess that Jesus is God’s special revelation. At the heart of our faith, we acknowledge the need for Jesus in order to be victorious over sin. So, in a sense, I don’t have a choice. If I am to show you love, then for me that means I am to hope that you become a follower of Jesus.
If you are still reading this, and have not given up in utter disgust at my not-so-post-modern stand, allow me to end by saying that having an agenda will never mean I will only love those who agree with me. It only means that Jesus is not just a belief I hold, but I he is my very identity – my saviour and my Lord.
Let us stand in prayer

May the earth
The entire earth
Be filled
With your glory

هدف المسيحيين المستتر
أصبح من الشائع في هذا الزمن التكلم عن بناء علاقات مع الناس المختلفين عنك بدون وجود نية مستترة لديك
حتى أن البعض يعتقد أنه أمر مناف للأداب أن تحاول تغيير شخص ما أو جعله يعتنق معتقداتك
أعتقد أنه من المستحيل ألا يكون لديك هدف. لا تستطيع أن تكوّن علاقة مع أحدهم بدون هدف. قد يكون الهدف بكل بساطة هو تكوين العلاقة، ولكن هذا يا صديقي، هو هدف
لقد مر وقت على كتابتي في هذه المدونة المتواضعة مع عدد أتباعي المتواضع. أميل عادة في مناقشتي للمواقف المسيحية المختلفة نحو النعمة (أو أحاول على الأقل). أؤمن أنه يجب على المرء أن يكون مليئا بالنعمة
أعتقد أيضا بقوة أنه يجب أن أكون محترما مع الأشخاص المختلفين عني ولو لم يكونوا هم محترمين
ولكن كنت أفكر في الايام الماضية أنه ربما تركيزي على النعمة قد يدفع البعض للإعتقاد بأنني لا أمتلك نية ما من وراء ما أكتب
أنا متأسف، ولكن لدي هدف
أنا تابع ليسوع المسيح
أؤمن أنه طريق الحياة
أؤمن أن يسوع هو الحل لمشاكل البشرية
أؤمن أن يسوع شخص حقيقي أتى إلى أرضنا، مات على الصليب، وقام في اليوم الثالث منتصرا على الخطية والموت
وهذا وعدي لكل أصدقائي، وكل من ألتقي بهم. كل مرة أتكلم بها معكم أعدكم بأن أكون محترما. أعدكم بأن أصغي لوجهة نظركم. أعدكم بأن اختلافاتنا لن تؤثر على علاقتنا. نستطيع أن نكون أصدقاء.
ولكن أعترف أنه بينما أتكلم معكم ونتشارك وجهات النظر أنا أفكر وأصلي باستمرار – يا رب دع هذا الشخص يختار أن يتبع يسوع
كل مسيحي، أي كل شخص تابع للمسيح على الأرجح لديه نفس الهدف
هذا الأمر إذا. لقد كشفت سرنا لكل المسلمين والملحدين وكل شخص يتبع أي أمر أو شيء (حتى المسيحيين) غير المسيح. نريدكم أن تصبحوا أتباعا للمسيح
لن نجبركم. لن (انشالله) نهين معتقداتكم. ولكن كم نتمنى أن تصبحوا أتباعا للمسيح
لا نستطيع ألا نحمل هذا الهدف. في قلب إيماننا يوجد الإعلان أن يسوع مات ليخلص كل البشرية بل كل العالم. في قلب إيماننا نعترف بأن المسيح هو إعلان الله المميز. في قلب إيماننا نعترف بحاجتنا ليسوع لننتصر على الخطية. إذا، في مكان ما، لا نمتلك خيارا. إذا كنا نريد أن نُظهر المحبة فهذا يعني لي أنه يجب أن أتمنى أن تصبح تابعا للمسيح
إذا كنت لا زلت تقرأ ولم تهجر هذه المدونة قرفا بموقفي المنافي لعصر ما بعد الحداثة، دعني أن أختم بالقول ان هذا الهدف لن يعني أبدا أنني فقط سأحب الذين يتفقون معي. هو يعني أن يسوع ليس مجرد اعتقاد أحمله بل هو هويتي – ربي ومخلصي

بمجدك
