New Year’s eve featured a new terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey. A man (mysteriously evading security!) killed at least 39 people at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul. Others got injured.

3 Lebanese were pronounced dead.

The government, in a rare act of kindness (many times the Lebanese only feel appreciated by their country after their death) pronounced them as martyrs and sent a private plane to get the injured and the dead. The Lebanese media was in a frenzy of reporting the story.

Most of the Lebanese on social media regarded this as a tragedy. Three youth who were celebrating life on New Year’s eve got killed in a cruel manner.

However, some did not agree. A number of people on social media announced their displeasure at all the attention that these three victims are receiving.

Some were not happy because many Lebanese die around the world and in different circumstances, but they do not get the attention that these three got.

Others were displeased by the lack of sensitivity from the Lebanese media, where the three mourning families were constantly surrounded by cameras and attention. Leave them alone, was their cry.

Still others were displeased because the three died in a nightclub. According to this group since these youth died while in a nightclub, probably drinking alcohol, then they deserve this fate.

As expected, the last group got the biggest backlash of all from the Lebanese people.

How dare they desecrate death and celebrate it?

I agree. The fact that these three were in a nightclub does not mean that their death is a joyful thing.

So, why do some people argue that we should not mourn those who die in a nightclub?

The argument is simple:

Person A is doing a sin according to my religion (nightclub, alcohol…etc.).

Person A dies.

The world is a better place without person A.

About a year ago a number of my Facebook Christian friends joyfully shared a story of a gay bar burning down and killing a number of the people inside. They called it judgement from God. Hell on earth. Good news for humanity.

Should we mourn gays who die in a gay nightclub?

Almost daily civilians, soldiers, and ISIS members die in Syria. If you are pro-regime, you probably celebrate when the opposition groups die. If you are anti-regime you probably celebrate when the Syrian soldiers die.

Should we mourn ISIS fighters who die in battle?

Should Christians mourn when Muslims die?

Should the Lebanese mourn when Israeli’s die?

Do we mourn the death of everyone or only the death of our own?

When will we learn to mourn death, all of death?

When will we learn to celebrate life, all of life?

Let us stand in prayer

Lord,

Forgive us

We ask death, not love

For our enemies

Judgement, not grace

For those who are far

Amen

تم اعلان وفاة 3 لبنانيين

الحكومة اللبنانية، في بادرة حنان فريدة (لا نشعر كلبنانيين بالتقدير من الوطن الا بعد ان نموت) أعلنت القتلى شهداء وأرسلت طائرة خاصة لتقلّ الجثامين والجرحى. وجن جنون الإعلام اللبناني الذي هرع لتغطية الحدث

معظم اللبنانيين على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي اعتبروا الخبر ماساة. 3 أشخاص يحتفلون بالحياة ليلة راس السنة قتلوا بطريقة شنيعة

ولكن البعض لم يوافق. بعض الأشخاص على فايسبوك وغيره اعلنوا استيائهم من كل هذا الانتباه الذي تلقاه الشهداء الثلاث

البعض استاء لان كثير من اللبنانيين يموتون حول العالم بطرق مختلفة ولاينالون اي اشارة او انتباه

البعض الآخر استاء لان وسائل الاعلام لم تدع أهل الضحايا يحزنونن ويبكون موتاهم بسلام. اتركوهم، كانت صرختهم

والبعض الآخر استاء لان القتلى الثلاث سقطوا في ملهى ليلي. بحسب هذا الفريق هؤلاء الاشخاص يستحقون الموت لانهم كانوا في مقهى ليلي وعلى الارجح يشربون الكحول

وكما هومتوقع، تلقى الفريق الاخير الاستنكار من الجميع

كيف يدنسون حرمة الموت ويحتفلون به؟

أنا أوافق. وجود الضحايا في ملهى ليلي لا يعني ان موتهم مصدر فرح

اذا، لماذا يحاجج بعض الناس انه لا يجب علينا الحزن على من يموت في ملهى ليلي؟

الحجة بسيطة

انسان أ يرتكب خطية بحسب ديانتي – السهر في ملهى ليلي، شرب الكحول…الخ

انسان أ يموت

العالم مكان افضل بدون الانسان أ

منذ سنة تقريبا شارك اصدقائي المسيحيين على فايسبوك بفرح خبر وفاة عدد من المثليين في حريق شب في احد حاناتهم. سموا الامر دينونة من الله. جهنم على أرض. أخبار سارة للبشر

هل نحزن على المثليين الذين يموتون في حانة مثلية؟

يوميا يقتل المدنيون، الجيش وأفراد من داعش في سوريا. اذا كنت مع النظام فعلى الارجح تحتفل بموت الفريق المقابل. وان كنت مع المعارضة فعلى الارجح تحتفل بموت الجنود السوريين

هل نحنزن على مقاتلي داعش الذين يسقطون في الحرب؟

هل يحزن المسيحيون على موت المسلمين؟

هل يحزن اللبنانيون على موت الإسرائليين؟

هل نحزن على موت الجميع أم فقط موت جماعتنا؟

متى سنتعلم أن نحزن على الموت، موت الجميع؟

متى سنتعلم أن نحتفل بالحياة، كل الحياة؟

دعونا نقف لنصلي

يا رب

سامحنا

نحن نطلب الموت، وليس المحبة

لأعدائنا

نطلب الدينونة، وليس النعمة

لمن هم في بعد
